ROOOZ 2018
During ROOOZ 2018, 13 breeders showed their assortment in the stable of the historic garden in Aalsmeer. Of the companies presenting, more than 15.000 roses have been showed during the 4 day event. From Africa and South America not only different varieties were on display, but also roses coming from different altitudes and qualities (1600 to 2600 meters above sea level), medium-sized, large-flowered, spray roses, exclusive varieties. For the competition 29 intermediate sized and 36 large-flowered varieties were available. It’s all about roses!

Flower arrangements
The exam class of the School for Horticulture in Aalsmeer, led by Pieter Wijkmans, have again delivered fantastic work with their design and flower arranging work. They transformed the whole set-up into a beautiful show of roses.

ROOOZ 2018
This year the same speakers showed presence on both Thursday and Friday. Pieter vd Hulst of Flower Watch gave an interesting presentation about the quality of the flowers in the entire chain and how the temperature plays a major role in this.

Followed by Harry vd Plas from Total Touch Cargo who explained in his presentation about the changes in air freight. He spoke, amongst other things, about the increase in demand of air freight from and to other parts of the world such as Asia. This is having an impact on availability and price of air freight.

After the lectures, a well-prepared lunch was served with delicious sate and salads. Naturally visitors were also able to vote for the contest and we organized the annually recurring press button contest. Thursday under supervision of auctioneer Ger de Brabander and Friday led by one of the volunteers from the Historical Garden.

Aalsmeer Flower Festival
From breeder to consumer, they were all there. On Saturday and Sunday the gardens were open because of the Aalsmeer Flower Festival. Because the Historic Garden and also ROOOZ are part of this festival, several thousands of visitors (consumers) visited the various locations in Aalsmeer including the presentations of especially made for ROOOZ 2018.
